Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Issues Bold Quote On Playoffs
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the best teams in the Western Conference throughout the 2023-24 NBA regular season. Their position in the standings for the postseason wasn’t finalized until the final day, as their loss to the Phoenix Suns locked them into the No. 3 seed.

Coincidentally enough, the team who defeated them in the regular season finale is also the team they will match up against in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The Suns, courtesy of the New Orleans Pelicans losing to the Los Angeles Lakers, landed the No. 6 seed.

This is a tough draw for the Timberwolves, who have yet to find success against the Suns this season. Phoenix defeated them in every matchup in the regular season, which isn’t lost on the Minnesota players.

“Figure out a way to beat Phoenix, because we ain’t been able to do it,” their star Anthony Edwards said when asked about the team’s mindset heading into the series. (H/T ClutchPoints)

The games weren’t particularly close either. Minnesota lost all three matchups by double-digits as they had no answers for Phoenix. But, that hasn’t led to their confidence wavering at all.

Despite the regular season performance, Edwards expressed confidence that his team will figure things out in the postseason. “Hell yeah. Hell yeah. They won three games in the regular season — (the) regular season (is) over with now. We got the postseason, so we’ll be ready to go,” Edwards added.

The Suns are as dangerous as any team in the NBA Playoffs because of the firepower they possess offensively. Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal are all capable of carrying an offense but share the court for Phoenix.

The Timberwolves are going to have to pick their poison when it comes to attempting to slow them down. It certainly won’t be easy as the two-big lineup Chris Finch uses with Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert will be tested with Durant playing power forward.

But, that is something Edwards and his teammates know will be coming. So, they have got to work on game planning and how to stop it. “They play KD at the 4. So, you know, (it) puts us in a lot of rotations. But we’ll be ready for it.”

The matchup between the Timberwolves and the Suns will be one of the more intriguing of the first round. Both teams are very talented, which should result in some great games to kick off the NBA Postseason.
