Chris Buescher posts funny response after barely losing to Kyle Larson
NASCAR Cup Series driver Chris Buescher. Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Buescher was the runner-up Sunday in what turned out to be the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history. After initially seeming upset, Buescher had a wholesome message following his defeat.

The RFK Racing driver lost the AdventHealth 400 to Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson by 0.001 seconds at Kansas Speedway.

The two were so close that the gap between the two cars was hardly distinguishable even in the final photo taken at the finish line (seen here).

During his post-race interview, Buescher sounded somewhat bitter about the final result.

But after letting himself cool off, Buescher had some fun with his second-place finish. He referenced the Pixar movie “Cars” in a post on X.

The 2006 animated film’s protagonist, Lightning McQueen, forced a three-way tie by extending his tongue to finish a race.

Given how slim the margin was between Buescher’s No. 17 Ford Mustang and Larson’s No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro, one tongue could have very well been the difference.
