The Los Angeles Dodgers received power swings from Miguel Rojas and Shohei Ohtani as they extended their franchise streak of scoring at least five runs along with completing a series sweep of the San Francisco Giants.

Before Rojas hit his second home run of the season, he had a productive at-bat by grounding into a force out with the bases loaded in the second inning.

After the Giants evened it up in the third inning on Patrick Bailey’s solo homer, Will Smith and Teoscar Hernández provided the Dodgers with a lead by each driving in a run.

The proverbial table had been set by Ohtani legging out an infield single to lead off the bottom of the third. Ohtani then showed off more of his speed by scoring from first base on Smith’s double.

The Giants cut into their deficit with two runs in the sixth inning, and Ohtani later provided what proved to be the difference in the seventh by hitting his first Dodgers home run. Ohtani’s homer proved to be the difference as Jorge Soler hit a solo blast in the eighth inning.

“Honestly, very relieved that I was able to hit my first home run,” Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton. “It’s been a while, and honestly, my swing hasn’t been great. So overall, very relieved.”

Dodgers pitching

Tyler Glasnow labored a bit toward the end of his outing but turned in a quality start by getting through six innings with three runs allowed.

Joe Kelly worked a clean seventh inning and Daniel Hudson surrendered the home run to Soler in the eighth before Dinelson Lamet entered in the ninth for his first career save.

Evan Phillips, Ryan Brasier and Michael Grove were among the Dodgers relief pitchers who weren’t available.
